September 25 – The Shorthorn – feature article on HSNA president, Maria Quiñones. “Nursing senior Maria Moreno Quiñones began her nursing career after the birth of her premature niece….” Quiñones was selected by the Center for Hispanic Studies in Nursing and Health to receive a scholarship award to attend the Hispanic Student Nursing Association national conference. She states becoming a nurse is her dream and stresses the importance of educating students who are culturally aware and self-confident leaders.
